Academic Eligibility & Qualifications

Candidates seeking admission and registration for the doctoral curriculum must satisfy the benchmarks mandated by the University of Mumbai and UGC:

  • Post-Graduate Benchmark: A Master’s degree in Management or an allied professional discipline from a UGC-recognized university, secured with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks for general category and 50% for reserved category (or an equivalent grading scale).
  • Advanced Research Qualification: Possession of an M.Phil. degree awarded with a first division, granting the scholar exemption from pre-Ph.D. coursework requirements.
(Note: Admissions strictly adhere to prevailing UGC regulatory standards and University of Mumbai ordinances.)


Selection & Admission Pathway

  • Eligibility: Candidates who have passed/cleared UGC-NET, JRF/UGC-CSIR NET/SLET/ GATE/INSPIRE/M.PHIL/ UGC, or CSIR (JRF) conducted by University of Mumbai in respective subject are eligible to apply for the personal interview.
  • Viva-Voce / Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear before a research committee for a detailed evaluation of their research acumen and proposal viability.
  • Documents Required::
    • Bachelor's Degree Marksheet & Convocation.
    • Master's Degree Marksheet & Convocation.
    • Certificate of Eligibility/Qualified PET Exam Certificate-conducted by University of Mumbai.
    • Certificate for exemption from PET, if any.
    • Migration Certificate (if applicable).
    • Research Proposal
    • Marriage Certificate in case of name change.


Program Duration
Timeline: A minimum duration of 3 years encompassing coursework and intensive dissertation work, structured in strict compliance with current University of Mumbai guidelines.

Regular Entry Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification:: Passed a minimum 3-year bachelor’s degree from any University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with at least 50% marks in aggregate (at least 45% for candidates belonging to Backward Class categories, Economically Weaker Sections [EWS], TFWS and Persons with Disability [PwD] from Maharashtra State only).
  • Entrance Examination: Valid score in recognized management entrance tests (such as MAH-CET, CMAT, CAT, etc.) as per the guidelines issued by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra.


Lateral Entry Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed any of the 4-year degree programs - B.E., B.Tech., BBA, or BMS as notified by the State CET Cell, Government of Maharashtra. No CET is required.
  • Compliance: Candidates shall apply to the State CET Cell for document verification and subsequently to the institute for admission. Admissions will be based strictly on the merit of applicants.
